There is no need for your family
ever to be faced with the handl-
ss
cap of unpaid bills and accumu-
lated debts if you should die un-
expectedly. The Great-West Life can provide you with a
policy—plan adjusted to suit your needs and your earning
power—that will give yob:. family a fair start in the struggle
which would face them if you should be called away unex-

address is too utterly ridicu•

SEY3IOUR J. COIIN

Mr. Hogan, whose address was
a plea for tolerance directed
against importation of racial or
religious bigotry form abroad, as-
serted that Catholicism, like other
religions, was "vitally interested
in religious freedom in the Unit-
ed States." Recalling the out-
razes of the Ku Klux Klan
against Catholics and Negroes as
well as Jews, Mr. Hogan warned
that "one hate breeds another."
Continuing he said:

Afterward Mr. Medalie tux-
gemtecl that the speech should
reach a broader audience and
Mr. Hogan said he agreed to
speak over the radio. Mr. Me-
dalie said he arranged for Mr.
Hogan to speak under the spon-
sorship of the council, and added:

. 1r.',:l rt."

Ilogan's address follows:
"We want no Fascism, we want
no Nazism, we want no comma
nism here. But our desire to
keep them from taking root here
is not enough. Earlier genera
tiona of Americans built our de
mocracy. More recent generations
enjoyed it and handed it on to
us as a priceless heritage.
"But now, yesterday's ideals
are being challenged, even in
this country. It is no longer
enough merely to retain these
ideals which have given Ameri-
can democracy reality. We must
refurbish them, we must bol-
ster them to meet altered condi-
tions without sacrificing their
very essence of idealism.

"Freedom of speech. Whet
is freedom of speech? It is the
divin e right, not of kings. but
of the common man, the right
of every citizen to speak his
mind and the duty of every
citizen to let the other fellow
do the same.
"Freedom of religion. What
is freedom of religion? It is
the inalienable right of
man to worship God in accord-
ance with the dictates of his
conscience—and to let the
fellows do the same . .
