TO THE JEWISH PEOPLE
OF MICHIGAN---
W
E, THE UNDERSIGNED, at the threshold of Chanukah, are glad to exercise
in this manner the opportunity of extending to you the Season's Greetings. The
movement for Good Will and Better Understanding among all Americans of
every creed and race is founded on the thoughts of such idealists as Washington, Frank-
lin, Jefferson, Adams, Lincoln, and other great Americans, •whom we all honor and
revere, and whose memories are enshrined in the very words of the Declaration of Inde-
pendence and the Constitution of the United States.
From the early days to the present, the Jewish people have contributed their full
share to the development of our Commonwealth and the nation. The Chanukah
celebration awakens the thought of common brotherhood and in that spirit we are
glad to extend to the Jewish people a message of felicitation and good will. Let us all
resolve to make the year of 1939 one of high achievements, to better our community,
our state, our country, and to continue to be of service to humanity.
Through the courtesy and co-operation of the individuals and firms whose names
appear below, a wider distribution Of this Holiday number of The Jewish Chronicle

In the midst of the Arab terror in Palestine, Jewish industry
there is not only maintaining its previous position, but is even
expanding. One of the most striking examples of this is the phe-
nomenal growth of the Okava razor blade factory established by
German refugees. Oddly enough the growth in popularity of Okava
blades has been helped by the disturbances. British troops on duty
in Palestine became so used to these blades that they continue to
order them even when transferred to other British possessions. Aa
a result, Okava blades are now being sold in 30 countries, including
the United States. The photo above shows the exterior of the
Okava factory at Rishon-le-Zion. The photo below is a close-up of
