DETROIT JR. HADASSAH APPEAL FOR HELP TO '
INSTALLATION SUNDAY KALVARIER LANDSLEIT
Rabbi Frans to be Guest Speaker
at Meeting at Stela .
The last meeting of the season
of the Detroit unit of Junior
liadassah will be held Sunday.
June 12, at 2:30 p. m., at the
Stutter Hotel. Miss Bertha Yack-
An appeal for help has been re-
ceived by The Detroit Jewish
Chronicle addressed by the heads
of the Jewish community of Kal-
varija, Latvia, to the Kalvarier
landsleit in Detroit. The appeal
follows:
"The undersigned Jews of Kai;
varija appeal to you to help us
support the Talmud Toran. the
hloshav Zekonim (Old Folks'
Home), Beth Ilamedrosh and oth-
er institutions. We especially
appeal to you to help us complete
the synagogue which needs finish-
ing touches. We also wish to
make repairs on the cemetery, to
build a fence, improve the roads
and to repair tombstones. All
those who were born here or are
descended from former Kalvarija
residents are asked to come to our
aid. Unfortunately conditions are
extremely bad here. With our
limited means we do all we can
to support our institutions. We
appeal to our brothers and sisters
to help us in every possible way.
