Congresaman Dondero Op-
poses Roosevelt-Hull Refu-

Dr. S. E. Barnett has received
a letter from Congressman George
A. Dondero of Michigan, explain-
ing his stand in opposition to the
admission of refugees to this coun-
try. Congressman Dondero's atti-
tude in opposition to the Roosevelt
Hull humanitarian proposal is ex-
plained to Dr. Barnett as fellows:
"Your letter of April 11 Is re-
ceived In which you criticize my
stand in reference to the bringing
of persons to this country who are
persecuted in the dictator coun-
tries.
"I favor a committee on which
the United States shall be repre-
sented to help these oppressed peo-
ple in finding homes, but as long
as we have 12,000,000 persons in
this country who are unemployed
I am opposed to bringing more
within our boundaries. I, also, be-
lieve that those aliens already
within our country should be prop-
erly assimilated before more are
brought here. There are countries
where these people can be cared
for properly and where they can
maintain • government of their
own or be with those of their own
rate and culture."
