She is now chairman of the Illin-
ois Marathon Round-Tables for the
Cause and Cure of War.
The social activities committee is
assisting Mrs. Meyer Rosenbaum
in making the luncheon arrange-
ments. Luncheon reservations may
be made with Mrs. Rosenbaum, 675

Luncheon tickets are also obtain-

Mrs. Maurice Klein, president,

Music Study Club
Soiree on Tuesday

The Music Study Club of De-
troit will bring to a close its 14th
year of successful activities with
its annual soiree to be held at the
Detroit Federation of Women's
Clubs, Hancock at Second Blvd., on
Tuesday, May 3, at 8:30 p. m. An
interesting program has been ar-
ranged by Sirs. S. Asherson who
will preside as chairman of the
evening.
Sirs. J. S. Souls, vocalist, will
render several selections, and will
be accompanied by Rosa Bassin
Stein. The drama group will pre-
sent a play written by Florence
Ryerson and Clement Collins, en-
titled "Never Too Old," directed by
Katherine Vincent Slayer. Sadie
Cooper will play several violin se-
lections, and Evelyn Gurvitch will
present piano selections. The
Music Study Club Choral will com-
plete the program with songs, di-
rected by Charles Frederick Morse,
and accompanied by Mrs. Stein.
The soiree will be complimentary
to members and a charge of 50
cents will be made to others wish-
ing to attend. A social hour will
follow the evening's entertainment.

40th Annual Model Meeting
of Philomathic Debating
Club

The six members of the ts•o op-
posing teams on the 40th annual
l'hilornathic model meeting are
busily preparing for that event,
which will be held during the mid-
dle of May at Central High School.
Last Sunday two alumni were
present at the meeting, Sfax Chum-
sky and Al Pearl, who will be one
of the judges. The program of
the afternoon consisted of "Variety
Topics," and the speakers were
Samuel Hertzberg, Sol Schwartz,
Henry Seligman and Morris Green,
who was voted best speaker of the
afternoon. Mr. Green, a student
at Wayne University, won a gold
medal in an oratorical contest held
in the school auditorium.

The Detroit Friendship Club
was reorganized on April 10 at a
meeting at the home of Mrs. Ben-
jamin Muakovitz, 12049 Otsego

Louis Lis was elected president,
and Mrs. Benjamin Muskovitz,
treasurer. Mrs. Albert Meister
