Needed: A Positive Program
National Fund and Jews had a legal and
moral right to settle there. They called
the colony Hannuta, and this name will
henceforth denote the beginning of new
peaceful conquests of the soil and new
sacrifices in behalf of Jewish national ex-
istence. On the morrow after this colony
was established it was attacked by a hand
of bandits. One Jew was killed. The rest
of the group refused to budge from their
rightful possession. Henceforth Northern
Galilee is to be Jewish. The soil of the an-
cient Jewish homeland, saturated with the
blood of innocent Jewish victims, has
never yielded its fruits to destroyers. It
was always receptive to Jewish builders.
So shall it be in the future.
The tradition has been established:
once Jews penetrate a remote section of
Palestine, they are there to stay, murder
and destruction on the part of their ad-
versaries notwithstanding. On the basis of
this principle and tradition Hannuta will
remain in Jewish history as a symbol of
Jewish strength and courage, and as proof
of Jewry's indomitable will to live and to
build.
