Purim Operetta
at Shaarey Zedek
Sunday Evening
Although the plans for the Purim
dinner this Sunday evening have
been abandoned by the auxiliaries
of Congregation Shaarey Zedek,
plans have been concluded for the
staging of the comic Purim operet-
ta, "Haman Hangs High," at 8:15
o'clock, in the social hall of the
synagogue, The cast includes 50
players, and the leads are taken by
the following: "Esther," Julian
Barahal; "Zeresh," Irene Kahn;
Vashti, Julia Siegl; "Haman," Jack
Rosenberg; "Mordecai," Sherman
Shapiro; "King," Ansley Goodman;
"Herold," Sheldon Munson. They
will be assisted by a large chorus.
Special musical attractions have
been arranged by Cantor J. H.
Sonenklar. Purim refreshments will
be served and there will be a nomi-
nal charge for admission.
The committee in charge of ar-
rangements, under the general
chairmanship of Morris Shatzen,
consists of the following: Drama-
tic, Frank Tzevine; music, Jack
Mendelsohn; stare. B. Kavanau;
costumes, Jean Becker.

branch 2 of Poole Zion-Zeire Zion
will be held Sunday evening,
March 27, at Bnai Moshe Hall.
At the last meeting, the social
committee, headed by Mrs. A. Mon-
dry, outlned an elaborate program
for the occasion, consisting of en-
tertainment, games and refresh-
ments.
The contemporary theater has
been engaged to present "The
Bishop of Munster," anti-Nazi skit,
and a group of other amusing skits
and songs. There will be a singer
of folk song, recitations, and the
youth group will lead in commu-
nity singing and Palestinian dances.
Bingo and other games will fol-
low. Mrs. Florence Zahler, Tyler

which may also be purchased at
