Marking an important innova-
tion in the history of publicly-
presented music, the first of the
four programs in the recently-an-
nounced recital-concert series will
be played by the Detroit Symphony
Orchestra in Orchestra Hall, Fri -
day night, Jan. 21.
Ruth Slenczynski, sensational
12-year-old pianist, will be pre-
sented at the opening concert,
making her first appearance in
Detroit. She will play the Prelude
and Fugue,•in a Minor, of Bach-
Liszt and Schumann's Etudes Sym-
phoniques, Opus 13, as well as the
solo role in the Third Concerto for
piano and orchestra, in C Minor,
Opus 37, of Beethoven. The young
genius has written her own caden-
za for the concerto, a work she has
dedicated to Baroness Edouard de
Rothschild.
