old, died on Jan. 7. Funeral serv-
ices were held on that day, with
interment in Nussach Ari Ceme-
tery. She is survived by her hus-
band, Ilyman; three sons, Morris,
Ben and Simon; three daughters,
Doris, Molly and Mrs. Sarah De-
Lise; three brothers, Ben, Sam

Funeral services for Joseph J.
Mahler, who died Thursday at
his home, 731 Covington Drive,
will be held at 1 p. m. Sunday.
Burial will be in Clover Hill Park
Cemetery. Born in Kurland,
Russia, in 1876, Mr. Mahler came
to this country in 1893. For the
last 24 years he made his home
in Detroit. Ile was a member of
Perfection Lodge, No. 486, F. &
A. M. He leaves his wife, Grace;
four sons, Milton, Irving, Harold
and Donald; one daughter, Mrs.
Morey Abrams, and two sisters,
Mrs. Alex Goldberg and Mrs.
Dora Michaelson, all of Detroit.

Forming at Center

A senior dramatic group, com-
posed of young men and women
over 20 years of age, who hay°
serious interest in the theater, is
being organized • at the Jewish
Community Center. The club will
be divided into six functional
units: Acting, scene, design, cos-
tume design, make-up, play read-
ing and business groups.
Jacob Goldberg, who has been
director of the Community Play-
ers of Buffalo for two years, and
who has been associated with the
Hollywood Players in Los Angeles,

The first meeting of the drama-

A symposium on "The Jewish
Content and the Community Pro-
gram" will be conducted during
the late Friday evening services
at Congregation Shaarey Zedek on
Jan. 21, at 8:30 o'clock. This
symposium was inspired by the
article in "Purely Commentary"
column in The Chronicle on Jan.
7. Participants in the symposium
will be Maurice Glasier, newly-
elected member of the board of
the Jewish Center; Max Chomsky,
director of Young Judaea and
member of the faculty of the
Shaarey Zedek Schools, and Abbe
Levi, president of Young Israel.
Cantor J. II. Sonenklar and his
quartet will be in charge of the
services, which are followed by a
social hour during which refresh.
ments are served. The public is
invited.

Oneg Shabbat of
Mizrachi Women

Mizrachi women will be enter-
tained at an Oneg Shebat this
Saturday afternoon, Jan, 15, at
2:30, at the home of Mrs, Samuel
Glucklick, 2494 Clairmount Ave.
Last Wednesday afternoon a vic-
tory luncheon was held at the Bnai
Moshe, celebrating the success of
the Mizrachi donor luncheon. The
chairman, Mrs. Abraham Caplan,
gave a report of the luncheon and
announced that the proceeds had
been forwarded to Tel Aviv to help
finance the Girls Technical Home
now under construction. William
Hordes gave several dramatic
readings from Bialik, and Mrs.
Isaac Rosenthal was the speaker
of the afternoon.

Concert Fund for
Spanish Loyalists

T h e Jewish-American Youth
Chorus will present an evening of
entertainment on Sunday, Jan. 16,
at 8:30 at the Jewish Community
Center, Woodward at Ilolbroock.
All proceeds will go to the aid of
Spanish Loyalists.
The program will consist of
motion pictures, dances, a double
octet, a quartet, an instrunten
talist, and dancing for the public
after the program.
Refreshments and checking will

Jr. Home Relief Plans 7th
Anniversary Celebration

Miss Rachel Rubin, chairman
of the ways and means commit-
tee, is arranging the program for
the 7th anniversary of the Jun-
ior Home Relief, Jan. 30.
A drive is being conducted for
old clothes for needy. Miss Lil-
lian Sherman, Townsend 7-8513,
chairman of the clothes commit-
tee, and Miss Beatrice Koblin,
Townsend 8-2707, co-chairman,
will be glad to supply informa-
tion in this regard.
The following officers have
been chosen for the balance of
the club year: Winifred Cornell,
president; Rachel Rubin, first vice-
president; Janet Selvan, chairman
of the executive board.
The juniors were represented
by Winifred Cornell at the Sen-
ior Home Relief executive board's
luncheon on Jan. 5. It was de-
cided that the juniors should co-
operate with the seniors in their
aloft for Passover relief.
