The Resale Shop of the Detroit
section, National Council of Jew-
ish Women, is conducting a toy
contest during the remainder of
this month and the month of De-
cember. Three valuable gifts will
be awarded to the •council mem-
bers making the largest contribu-
tion of toys. The Resale Shoo
also accepts all types of used
clothing. The proceeds from the
shop maintain the scholarship
fund of the organization, provid-
ing tuition, books, car-fare and
lunch money for underprivileged
girls.
Located in the council club-
house at 89 Rowena St.. the
shop is open the first four days
of the week from 10 a. m. to 4
p. rn. Directing a corps of vol-
unteer workers is Mrs. Robert
Strieffing, general chairman of
the enterprise, and Sirs. William
Stearn. co-chairman. Mrs. George
Bremen and Mrs. Maurice Gold-
stick are in charge of contacting
merchants. Mrs. Jack Rothberg
handles the individual solicitation
of council members, and Mrs. Rob-
ert N. Janeway is in charge of
the picking up of donations. The
publicity is done by Mrs. David
Ilubar.
The sales staff is composed of
a group of council members work-
ing under Mrs. James Stein and
Mrs. Harry Phillips. It includes

The rummage sale and dime
savings banks, which may be pro-
cured by phoning Mrs. Harry

auxiliary for members to raise
money for their tickets to the
luncheon.
Approximately 500 members at-
tended the regular meeting held
last Monday in the ballroom of
the Fort Wayne Hotel, following
the pep meeting and luncheon.
Following the regular business
meeting, Miss Mercedes Brooks, a
native of Costa Rica, gave a
travelogue. Mme. Etienne, danc-
ing instructress, presented several
of her talented pupils.
Another pep rally will be held
at the Home for Aged next Tues-
day morning at 10:30.

Detroit News editorial staff and
has made three trips abroad since
1929. He has just returned from
his third trip during which he
traveled through Poland, Italy,
Switzerland, Austria, Czechoela-
vakia and Sweden.
The musical program will con-
sist of vocal selections by Mrs.
David Kaltman, accompanied by
Miss Florence Kutzin.
The social committee, headed by
Mrs. L. Miller and Mrs. John Hay-
man, are in charge of the lunch-
eon, Mrs. Charles Brody,
chairman of the membership cam-
paign, reports that 110 new mem-
bers have been secured. Mrs, Brody
would appreciate a call from any-
one interested in joining the aux-
