Rosh Hashonah Greetings and Best Wishes to
the Entire Jewish Community
Through the medium of your
fine newspaper I desire to extend
to the Jewish citirenry of Michi-
gan a most successful New Year.
I am mindful of the signal part
taken by the Jewish people of
Detroit and all of Michigan in
upholding the tradition and aims
of our country. Permit me, there.
fore, to express the hope that
this Rosh Hashonah will bring to
all those of the Jewish faith great
prosperity and happiness.
PRENTIS M. BROWN,
U. S. S.
Among the. great achievements of the Jewish people
has been the preservation of their habits, customs,
religion and literature through all ages, among many
nations . . . An achievement unparalleled by any other
people in history.
It is, therefore, an extreme pleasure and privilege to
extend hearty felicitations on the important occasion
of Rosh Hashonah to my Jewish fellow citizens of the
great City of Detroit.
It is my privilege to say

Rabbi and Mrs. Abraham Ben-
gis, who spent the last winter at
Lakewood, N. J., are making their
permanent home at Moodus, Conn.
Mrs. Bengis, who is the author
of the popular book, "I Am A
Rabbi's Wife," announces that in
response to requests from many
individuals and a number of or-
ganizations she has just published
a new edition of her book. The
new edition is without cloth covers,
but has the complete text of the
old edition. The new edition was
published this way in order to save
expense and to put the book with-
in reach of all.
As is already known, Mrs. Ben-
gis wrote her book to aid her hus-
band who lost his health in active
service in the ministry. She is
grateful for all help and encour-
agement that will aid her in a
wider sale and distribution of the
book.
Mrs. Bengis will be glad to re-
ceive orders from any who are in-
terested. She will also be pleased
to hear from organizations who
may desire to order copies in bulk
for their members.
In this connection It might be
stated that a number of literary
groups and study circles have been
using th ebook as a text for dis-
cussion at their meetings.
A number of copies of the orig-
inal edition of the book is also still
available.
All orders for books and com-
munications should be addressed
to Mrs. A. Bengis, Moodus, Con-
necticut.
Rabbi and Mrs. Bengis desire to
thank their many friends, who, by
their encouragement and cheer in
the past have materially helped to
lighten their burden and to make
things more cheerful for them.
They extend greetings to all for
a happy and prosperous New
Year.

Rosh Hashonah Greetings
The greatest debt civilization owes to the Jew is the
lesson of democracy, beginning with the liberation
from Egypt and culminating with the giving unto this
great people of the Torah, from which all peoples have
and will continue to draw upon their inspiration of
true life.

Twenty-five of the older campers

the camp staff passed tests quali-

into that category. This instruc-

the beginning of the summer made
possible two swimming matches at
Air Camp with swimmers
from two nearby Camps. The "F. A.

one match.
Considerable activity was also
evidenced throughout the summer
on the athletic field where much
new equipment, secured through
the kindness of Harry Jacobson,
made it possible for the campers to
learn some of the finer points of
baseball, basketball, handball, ten-
nis and many other sports. The
new handicraft shelter--a building
devoted entirely to the arts and
crafts—gave ample space for in-
