Societies to Meet

Contrast in Physical

The Jewish Community Cen-
ter's third annual Maccabiad un-
der the direction of both the
men's and women's physical edu-
cation departments of the Cen-
ter, will be held on Wednesday,
Feb. 3, at 8 p. m., in the Center
gymnasium.
Using as the theme "The turn
of the Century and Now," the
contrast between physical educa-
tion 30 years ago and today will
be shown. Members of the Cen-
ter will give exhibitions in ballet
dancing, modern art dancing, tap
dancing, old time bicycling, mod-
ern cycling, calisthenics today and
yesterday, the origin of basket-
ball, badminton, etc.
As a feature of the program the
varsity basketball team of the
Center will play the Pep Club,
a Class A team.
There will be no admission
charge. Tickets are limited and
may be obtained at the Center
office.

Bnai Moshe Program
to Be on Wednesday

The Men's Club of Bnai Moshe
will stage a novel entertainment
for members of the congregation
and their friends when an all-
congregation program will be of-
fered on Wednesday, Feb. 3, at
8:30 p. m., in the main audi-
torium of the synagogue.
Community singing, dancing, a
skit, a Purim Punch and Judy
show, musical numbers and a
speech by Bernard Rosenberg on
the Junior Congregation, are on
the program. Eugene Gelbman
will offer a Jewish monologue,
while Miss Fredell Caplan will
entertain with two dance num-
bers. The Young People's Society
will stage a mock debate and the
Sunday school pupils will par-
ticipate under the direction of
Irwin Shaw, Sunday school prin-
cipal.
The show is being staged for
the Men's Club by the committee
on auxiliary organizations under
the chairmanship of Theodor Cur-
tis. The musical program will be
directed by Cantor A. A. Rosen-
feld, with Miss Cecilia Plotnick
at the piano.
Refreshments and lunch will
be served by the following hostes-
ses: Mesdames James Sobel, Eu-
gene Gelbman, Morris Weinstein,
Irving Sims, Alex Stein, A. A.
Rosenfeld, Max Gross, Jacob
Gelbman, Isidor Katz, Bessie
Greenspan and Ilarry Meer.
The public is invited. Admis-
sion is free.
The father and son dinner ar-

held on Feb. 17. Reservations are
