For U. S. Congress

J. II. Eliasohn of Ludington,
Mich., who was twice elected pros-
ecuting attorney of Mason County
—in 1932 and again in 1934—re-
ceived the Democratic nomination
for United States Congress in
the 9th district at the primaries
held last month. Ile won the nom-
ination over Charles M. Black and
Julius M. Magil oft Muskegon,
Rose Conway Parker of Frankfort,
Mich., and Chet Emunson of Man-
istee. His majority was 496 votes.
A graduate of the University of
Michigan law school, Mr. Eliasohn
was first elected prosecuting at-
torney immediately upon receiving,
his law degree in 1932. He is be-
lieved to be the youngest pros-
ecuting attorney in the country. ,
He was honored by the Michigan
Prosecuting Attorneys' Associa-
tion by being elected one of the
directors for 1935-36. In 1935 he
also served as president of the
Democratic clubs of the 9th dis-

Sam Babcock heads the commit-
tee in charge of the third annual
golf tournament sponsored by the
health and physical education com-
mittee of the Jewish Community
Center.
Knollwood Country Club, on
Sunday, Oct. 11, at 2:30 p. m.,
will be the scene of keen competi-
tion between Ted Goode, twice
winner of the Meyer Prentis Tro-
phy, and the many stars who have
already entered the contest. The
entrants to date include Sam Die-
ter, former member of the Detroit
Institute of Technology golf team;
Dr. Jack Goode, farmer member
of the Alma College team; Dr.
Leon Katzin, who several years
ago captained the Highland Park
Junior College team.
Low gross score in both an up-
per and lower flight will govern
the tournament which will be
medal play.
Entries must be in the Center
office no later than Tuesday eve-
ning, Oct. 6.
