EXCAVATION WORK ON NEW BUILDING FOR HOME FOR JEWISH AGED

"If money pledged to the Old
Folks' Home Building Fund is in,
when and as promised, the new
Home for the Jewish Aged, on
Petoskey and Burlingame Ayes.,
will be completed within four
months time," stated Myron Keys,
chairman of the Home's executive
committee, on Wednesday.
"All steamshovel work for the
main excavation, approximately
130 by 80 feet, will be completed
this week-end, and, given fair

weather, the first floor of the
building will be up by Friday,
June 19.
"Concrete is being poured and
bricklayers are already busy at
'work on the Old Folks' Home
four and one-half acre site, ad-
jacent to the Jewish Children's
Home. The face brick, selected
for the building, is between ivory
and soft gray in color, having .a
rough surface that tends toward
a picturesque, rustic appearance.

This type of Shale brick is un-
usual in our part of the coun-
try," said Mr. Keys, "and will
contribute much to the distinctiv,p
character and beauty of the in-
stitution.
"Architects plans for the new
Home call for a long, low build-
ing of modern design, replete with
every convenience and all medical
equipment for the care of elderly
people and those who are chits's-

To Operate Monday
On George Mogill

Dr. A. N. Mittleman' stated
this 'week that Monday, June .15,
has definitely beeneset as the date
for the operation at Temple Uni-
versity Hospital in Philadelphia
on George Mogill, eon of Rev,
and Mrs. S.. Mogill.
The operation will be perform-
ed by Dr. Chevalier Jackson, na-
tionally known expert, Dr. Mittle-
man, who left. for Washington,
D. C., to attend the sessions of
the American Jewish Congress on
Saturday .and Sunday, as a dele-
gate from Detroit, will go to
Philadelphia on Monday to assist
in the operation.
Dr. Mittleman said he was sat-
isfied that the boy's condition has
improved, and stated that hp ,ex-
pects him to return to Detroit
next Friday or 'Saturday.

Debate to Feature
Perfection Meeting

Wednesday, June 17, will be
third degree night at Perfection
Lodge. Judge Clyde I. Webster will
speak to the lodge and a debate is
also to take place on the subject
"Resolved: that President Frank-
lin D. Roosevelt deserves re-elec-
tion." The affirmative will be up-
held by Harry Zuusmer and Dr.
Samuel Hants, and the negative
by Charles K. Harris and David
Coleman.

Odd Fellows' Moonlight

The joint excursion committee
of the Odd Fellow lodges of De-
troit and vicinity, of which
Frank Schneider of Columbus
Lodge is chairman, is sponsoring
a moonlight to Sugar Island on
the Steamer Tashmoo, on the
night of Friday, June 19. The
boat leave the foot of Griswold
Street at 8:45 p. m. There will
