the National Council of Jewish
Women will be held Monday, May
4, at 6:15 p. m., at Temple Beth

A short business meeting will
precede the entertainment of the
evening. Officers and directors will
be elected and revision to the by-
laws add upon.
The entertainment "C o u n c i l
Clippings", presented by the mem-
bers of the Junior Council of Jew-
ish Women will be in the form of
three humorous skits entitled "Our
Council Camp," "The Resale Shop"
and "A Junior Council Board
Meeting." The program includes a
piano solo by Miss Mildred Feld-
man, a dance solo by Miss Con-
stance Robinson, and a reading by
Miss Melba Sklar. Miss Ethel Ber-
man and Miss Isabel Levin are the
co-chairmen of the program. Miss
June Maas and Miss Josephine

Affair April 29
On Wednesday, April 29, a
noon-day luncheon and bridge will
be given at the Eastern Star
Temple, 80 W.' Alexandrine Ave.,
under the general chairmanship of
Mrs. Belle Lachman.
This will be the annual spring
luncheon, after which an after-
noon at cards is being planned
by the committee in charge. Mem-
bers and friends are requested to
make their reservations early by

may be secured from any of the
officers. There will be a nominal
charge for the luncheon.

Selects Officers
Adding another well-performed
production to its rapidly growing
repertory, the Shaarey Zedek
Children's Theater presented a
one-act play entitled "The Silver
Cup," for the Intermediate As-
sembly of the Shaarey Zedek
Sunday School, on Sunday, April
19. This play, featuring Char-
lotte Kruger, Francis Saulson, Al-
fred Shevin, Harry Broder and
Stanley Schiller, was directed by
Alfred Shevin under the supervis-
ion of Barney Kavanaugh, a mem-
ber of the adult staff working with
the theater. Mia Leona Levin,
who has recently been added to
the staff, performed an authentic
and convincing job of make-up
for the cast.
Directly following the program,
an organization meeting of all
members of the theater was held.
Saul L. Schlesinger, general di-
rector and sponsor of the theater,
announced that he felt the time
had now come when the Shaarey
Zedek Children's Theater could
assume the responsibility of gov-
erning itself and assisting In the
shaping of future policy. As a
consequence of this statement,
election of officers was held which
resulted as follows: President,
Frederick Miller; vice-president,
Stanley Schiller; secretary, Fran-
ces Saulson; treasurer, Alfred
Shevin.
At the conclusion of the elec-
tion, future productions were dis-
cussed by Mr. Schlesinger, and it
was decided to cast all available
talent in playa or interpretative
readings within the very near fut-
ure. Rehearsal on the program
to be given for the Mother's Day
program of the Sisterhood of
Shaarey Zedek wan held during
the afternoon under the direction
ef Frederick Miller, supervised by
Miss Jane Colton.
"The Mad Tea Party," from
Alice In Wonderland. for which
Maxine Spickler prepared the
scripts was commenced by a line
