vision has been called for Monday
evening, at Hotel Stotler. Abe
Srere, chairman of the general
division, will preside.

The 85th anniversary of any notably
worthy event is a fit occasion for
good wishes. But when it comme-
morates the founding of an institu-
tion which has been so vital a source
of spiritual inspiration to a 'com-
munity, good wishes become more
heartfelt and secure.

JAMES I. ELLMANN

MRS. EDWIN M. ROSENTHAL

And it is in this spirit that we extend
our best wishes and congratulations
to Temple Beth El. May it always
continue to be the same potent force
for personal, .communal and civic
good that it has been throughout its
past eighty-five years.

Congressman John H. Dingell,
in a letter to Dr. Stephen S. Wise,
national chairman of the United
Palestine Appeal, strongly en-
dorses efforts to rebuild Palestine
as the Jewish National How.
Congressman Dingell writes:
"Those of us who abhor even
the thought of bigotry and perse-
cution will hope and pray for the
success of the movement. As a
gentile I have observed how jeal-
ously the Jews in America guard
the privilege of taking care of
their own people and I realize the
burden of their undertaking.
"Our Jewish citizens have been
called upon to aid not only their
own unfortunate brethren in this
country, but 'due to the tragic
calamities which befall your peo-
ple in foreign lands have been
asked to contribute of their time
and money for relief elsewhere.
"It may be said to the everlast-
ing credit of the Jews of America
whose generosity is exemplary that
while they insist upon taking care
of their own here and abroad they
do so without neglecting general
drives for charitable funds with
which to care for others. I am con-
fident that the United Palestine
A:ip., a1 will succeed in attaining
the goal of three and one-half mil-
lion dollars.
"I appreciate that the generosity
of the Jewish people has already
been tested to the extreme but I
know that the noble purpose of the
drive will stimulate American
Jewry to once again rise to the
occasion."
