THEATER BENEFIT FOR
RABBI H. HOROWITZ
A special performance to aid
the family of Rabbi H. Horowitz,
the well known Chassidic rabbi
who is now in Detroit, will be
given at Littman's Yiddish Peo-
ple's Theater, 12th and. Seward,
on Tuesday evening, Jan. 29.
A. Littman, manager of the
theater, has announced that a
play of special interest and ap-
peal to Orthodox Jews will be
staged that night, and he assures
those purchasing tickets that a
real treat is being prepared for
them.
Tickets are available from
Rabbi Horowitz, at 2712 Richton
Ave., Townsend 7-5001, or at the
synagogue on Linwood and Stur-
tevant.
Rabbi Horowitz is the grand-
son of the Caom Rabbi Chaim
Ilalberstam, on his mother's side,
and of a long list of eminent
rabbis on his father's side. His
family is in Poland, and during
the recent floods was placed in
dire circumstances.
The theater benefit is being
given in order to help the family
of Rabbi Horowitz in its present
tragedy, and Detroit Jews are
called upon to patronize this per-
formance.
JEWISH HOSPITAL IN JERUSALEM
GETS NEW FORD V-S AMBULANCE
Hadessah'a Rothschild Hospital in Jerusalem is to receive a
new Ford V-8 ambulance as the gift of a group of Jews in New York,
'I his ambulance, shown above, is to be fully equipped and is
expected to be the finest ambulance in use In Palestine.
The Ford ambulance was chosen because of its economy of
operation, its easy-riding qualities and ruggedness, all of which are
of unusual importance for an ambulance to be used in a city many
of whose streets were laid centuries ago.

Difference Between Jewish
Science and Christian
Science
In answer to the question as to
the difference between Jewish
Science and Christian Science, the
National Conference of Jews and
Christians provides the following:
Rabbi Morris Lichtenstein, lead-
er and founder of the Society of
Jewish Science answers this ques-
tion as follows: The cardinal dif-
ferences between Christian Science
and Jewish Science lie in their con-
ceptions of matter and healing.
Christian Science denies the re-
ality of matter, holding that since
God is spirit and Ile is all-in-all,
matter does not exist. In the Jew-
ish Science conception, while God
is spirit, matter is one of the prod-
ucts of spirit; its visibility and
tangibility do not divest it of di-
vinity. In fact, we learn of God's
Presence greatly through His man-
ifestation in matter. And, there-
fore, we in Jewish Science, admit
the reality of matter. Sickness,
unfortunately, is also real, but we
demonstrate time and again that,
through prayer, health can be re-
gained and cheer restored.
