FOR PROBATE JUDGE
Little Cinema Theater,

"Rasputin—Saint or Sinner" is
the current German talking picture
at the Little Cinema Theater, 56
East Columbia.
Rasputin, the saint or sinner, is
a chronicle film having to do with
the last two years of the Roman-
offs, that group of royal decedents
who fed on the futile glory of the
past and strove not to hear the
rumblings of their swift approach-
ing doom. The film opens with the
coming to the Russian court of the
enigmatic Rasputin. He is pic-
tured as having the intense devo-
tion of a saint and the shifty, aim-
less, muddled heart of a peasant
lout.
With his healing of the Czar-
ina's son his place at the court is
made secure. With his prophecy
that as long as he is alive no harm
will come to her, she finds him in-
dispensable. While he prayed and
healed and gave advice to the royal
family in their sinister proceedings,
he also fell wholeheartedly Into the
rotted social life of Czarist Russia.
When, finally, he was murdered in
1916 by nobles wearied of his in-
visible despotism and unbearable
influence, the old Russia was a
thing that neither Rasputin nor
the RomanotTs could have saved.

JACK CITRIN,

M. E. DIKEMAN

the office of Judge of Probate for
Wayne County on the Democratic
ticket, has announced a platform
which he believes will appeal
strongly to the voters of the coun-
ty at the primaries on Sept, 13.
"I believe that the office of
Probate Judge is operated at a
cost which is entirely unnece,-
miry," said Candidate Dikeman
this week. "It is my opinion that
conservation and the use of eco-
nomical methods would result in ,
a big reduction in the operating ,
cost of the court, without lower-
ing its efficiency."
Mr. Dikeman, a native of Michi-1
gan and for the past 12 years a '
successful practicing attorney, has
specialized to a great extent in !
probate work and in the field of
child welfare, and says that there!
is need of improvement in juvenile
work, for the sake of the children
and the general public. His can-
didacy is endorsed by such prom-,
inent Detrolters as Fred Talbot.
