Will Rogers Gives $500
To Sanatorium at L. A.

LOS ANGELES.—(J. T. A.)
—Will Rogers, noted American
humorist, has made a personal
contribution of $500 to the Jew-
ish Tubercular Sanatorium at
Dun rte.
Having just completed a tour
in behalf of the sufferers in the
drought stricken area, Rogers
came to a midnight theater ben-
efit for the Duarte Sanatorium
and regaled his audience with
many a n e c to t e 5, especially
about Julius Rosenwald, Calvin
Coolidge and Al Smith in their
distribution of the Conrad Hu-
bert estate. The applause was
tremendous, but it did not com-
pare with the ovation he re-
ceived when Eddie Cantor, who
acted as master of ceremonies,
announced that Will Rogers had
also donated his personal check
for $500 for the Sanatorium.
The midnight theater benefit
was arranged by the Helping
Hand of Duarte, an organiza-
tion of local society women, and
was staged at the Los Angeles
Theater, through the courtesy of
the owner, II. Gumbiner.
