At the last meeting of Avukah,
a chapter of the International Stu-
dent Zionist Organization, held
Thursday evening, May K, Irving
Schlussel was chosen to lead the
group during the next season.
Plans were also formulated for the
activities of the coming year.
Leo Lubetsky discussed the form
of government now existing in Pal-
estine, outlining the different de-
partments of the government and
their functions.
The aim of the Avukah is to ac-
quaint the Jewish students of the
different universities with the as-
pirations and accomplishments of
the Zionist movement, and to bring
them in closer contact with Zion-
ism. The different phases of Zion-
ism, their background and the pres-
ent events in the movement are the
main topics for discussion at our
meetings.
David Cohen, the retiring chair-
man, is the leader of the Jewish
Youth Council.

NEW YORK.—(J. T. A.)—The
family of the late Jacob P. Adler,
famous Yiddish actor, has organ-
ized itself into a theatrical troupe
and this week it begins its first en-
gagement at the Second Avenue
Theater, where it will appear in
Jadob Gordin's "The Wild Man,"
the play in which Jacob Adler first
established himself as an artist .
After playing a limited engage-
ment on the East Side, the company
will play before other Jewish mid-

the $61,669 announced raised by
the general solcitations committee
made the total subscribed in the
first four days of the drive $255,-
6K6.
Another uproar at the luncheon
was created when the division
headed by Nate S. Shapero marched
into the hall preceded by a brass
hand and announced that it went
over the top and raised 107 per
cent of its quota. Maurice J. Cap-
lan s team raised 92 per cent of its
quota and leaders are now confident
that the entire sum of $305,000
will be raised before the 10-clay
campaign period is up.
Mr. Deltoy presided at Thura-
day's luncheon, and the address
wasdelivered by Judge Ilarry B.

The annual conevntlon of Young
Judaea, national Jewish youth or-
ganization, will be held at the Scar-
horn Hotel, Long Branch, New
Jersey, beginning Thursday, June
19, and ending Monday, June 23,
inaccordance with a decision by
the national executive committee ,
and announced by Samuel J. Bor-
owsky, executive chairman.
A special committee has been ap-
pointed by the president, Dr. Is-
rael Goldstein, to plan a program
for the convention so that it may
include, in addition to the regular
features, a special session for spon-
sors of the movement and another
session for former Young Judaea
leaders and workers, who desire to
attach themselves once more with
the organization. (..3:e-
sentation is expected from all over
the country.

Hadar Zion Club.

The members of the Hadar Zion
Club entertained their mothers at
a luncheon on May 11 at the home
of Ella Marcus. After the lunch-
eon, which was prepared by the
girls with the help of Mrs. Marcus,
a program followed. The great
Biblical women were portrayed by
various members. Dorothy Kroll
sang "The Yiddish° Siontme" and
"Schichalach." A poem entitled
"The Jewish Home" was read by
Florence Kahn. The group sang
several songs and the program was
concluded with a Bible reading
from the last chapter of the Book
of Proverbs.

Roses of White and Blue.

Roses of the White and Blue met
Tuesday, May 6, at the home of
Lillian Schultz. Plans were made
for an excursion to he held Sun-
day, following Decoration Day.

Attended by more than 140 per-
' sons, the Mother-Daughter ban-
quet, given Slay 6, by the members
of Junior Hadassah, in the banquet
hall of the Home Dairy, was a very
beautiful affair.
Guest speaker for the occasion
was Mrs. Joseph Ehrlich of De-
troit, a member of the national
board of Iladassah.
Miss Ida Krasnick wan toast-
mistress. Miss Blanche Fire, gave
the address of welcome. Miss
Shirley Rosenberg gave the invo-
cation, and Miss Stella Lande, the
toast to mothers. The response to
the daughters was given by Mrs.
Louis Lebster.
Music was furnished by Miss,
'Ann Lande, vocal soloist, and Miss'
Shirley Ann Levinson, who con-
tributed piano selections. Mrs. An.
na Dryfoos the oldest mother at
the banquet, was presented with a
corsage. A similar gift was given
the youngest child.
Miss Ida Krasnick was general
chairman of arrangements.
