JUST A JOKE

I know some people will object
to a story of this kind as possible
of misconstruction. As for me, it
seems to me all such fears are
ridiculous. No Jew of course wants
to see any Christians, on for that
matter any Mohammedans en: what

and that's all.

DARROW OPPONENT
IN PISGAH DEBATE

One of the best stories which I
have received in the contest so far
comes from Max Abrahams, New-
ark, N. J.
He tells the story of a young
fellow who had an overdose of
Sunday school and one day came
to a Jewish home and knocked on
the door.
"Did you kill the Messiah?" he
asked.
"No," replied the Jew who came
to the door, "It was the Bern-
steins on the fourth floor."

FROM OL' KENTUCKY

FROM MICHIGAN, TOO

Mr. Myer Teitlebaun of the
University of Michigan sends in
one that is fairly old to me, but
you know how jokes are—a joke
that is old to one Mall is new to
another. It is the story about the
rabbi and priest who were discus-
sing how high one can reach in
their respective clerical ladders.
"What," asked the rabbi, "can
you aspire to after you are a
triest"
"Oh, the a bishop."
"And then what?"
"Why then a cardinal."
"And after that?"
"Then a chance. in a hundred
million—to become the Pope."
"And then?" continued the
Jew.
"Say," asked the priest, "what
would you want him to become—,
a God?"
"Well, one of our boys was,"!
smiled the Jew.
And then for good measure, Mr. o
Teitlebaum throws in the follow-I
ing bon mot: The difference be-
tween an American and a "Galit-1
zianer" is that the one says "Wise
Guy," and the other says "Guy
Wise."

IN A LINE OR TWO

Nathan Anch, whose book Pay
Day" is having trouble with the
censor, is the son of the famed
Yiddish writer, Shalom Arch.
Frank 1. Knotch, author of
"King Mob," it is rumored by
sonic, is none other than Maurice
Samuel in disguise.
Sam Schubert, fanned theater
man, is a vegetarian.
Philip Goodman, producer, in his
will has a proviso which directs
that the waltz from "The Dollar
Princess" shall be played at his
funeral—and no other music.
Adolph Zukor cried, it is said,
