WINDSOR NEWS

The third annual banquet of
Tau Sigma Beta Sorority was held
Tuesday evening, Dec. 24, at the
Oriole Terrace, Detroit. It was a
strictly formal affair.
Prof. Samuel Isaac Krieger, late
of the University of Hamburg,
Germany, known as the "king of
logarithms" and "monarch of
mathematics," and lately associ-
ated with Prof. Albert Einstein in
the mathematical calculations in
connection with his theory of rela-
tivity, arrived in Windsor Tuesday,
Dec. 17, and was a guest at the
Prince Edward Hotel for a few
days. On his arrival, Professor
Krieger was welcomed at the de-
pot by Rabbi Israel Lebendiger, It.
G. Cohen, Dr. 1. M. Cherniak and
J. A. Glass. After escorting him
to the hotel, a luncheon was held
in his honor, which was attended
by many prominent Jewish men of
the Border Cities. During his stay
the professor gave several lectures
and demonstrations of his achieve-
ments and remarkable powers.
Tickets are now on sale for the
annual informal dance to be given
by Junior Hadassah at the Prince
Edward hotel, on Wednesday,
Jan. 15.
The fourth meeting of the Young
People's Society was held on
Wednesday evening, Dec. 18, at
the home of bliss Rae Carp, 958
'Parent boulevard. An interesting
talk and demonstration was given
by Prof. Samuel Isaac Krieger, the
honor guest of the evening. In.
formal discussion, dancing and re•
freshinents followed, rounding out
an enjoyable evening.
"What Happened on Chanukah"
is the name of the play to be pre•
seated by the Ladies' Auxiliary of
the B'nai B'rith Lodge on Tuesday,
Jan. 7. Rehearsals are now under
way.
