Yields have considerably im-
proved, in oranges, grapes, wheat
and barley. It is in the settle-
melds of the l'alestine Foundation
Fund, for which American Jews
provide the largest income, that
the greatest improvement k to be
noted. .Agricultural machines and
implements have linen introduced,
in a d dition to the agricultural
training which the fund provides
through the various schools it has
established. Tractors, thrashing
machines, movers, motors, pumps,
wells and automobiles are some of

On Saturday, May 4, occurred
the death of Mrs. Carrie Spiesberg-
er, wife of Nathan Soiesberger,
after a short illness. Mrs. Spies-
berger was born in 1869 and had
resided here for many years. For
the past 10 years she was active as
president of the Cemetery Aid So-
ciety and she will always be re-
membered in this community by
her kind and charitable deeds. She
is survived by one son, Earl, and
one grandson, Louis, of Jackson,
and one sister, Mrs. Chas..I. Levy
of this city. Burial took place
Tuesday morning, Rabbi Siskin of
Cincinnati officiating. On Tues-
day, May 7, occurred the sudden
death of Sir, Nathan Spiesberg•r,
brought on by the shock of his
wite's death. Mr. Spiesberger
was a prominent business nom here
for many years. Besides his son
and grandson, he is survived by
o ne brother, Earl, of Chicago, and
two sisters:, Stn. George Fox of
Richmond, Ind., and Mrs. Frances
Levy of Jackson. Private funeral
services were conducted on Thurs-
day.

Mrs. M. E. Freedman of Detroit
spent last Saturday in this city en
route to Munising, Mich. She
was accompanied from here by her

War he was assistant steward on
the Leviathan, which for the time
had been turned into a troop ship.,
and after that he was connected
with the Sevilla-Biltmore Hotel in
Havana. Ile has lately been with
the Atlanta Biltmore.

Amca Theater Performance
Wednesday Evening.

The theater performance for the
benefit of the Amca Orphan Home
and Farm School will be held Wed-
nesday evening, May 15. The
Modern Woman" will he staged by
the Yiddish Players, headed by
Mme. Rosetta Bialis. The theater,
the services of the players and all
help was secured free for the ben-
efit of the orphanage in Canada.
This performance will be a "lad-
ies free" affair, ladies accompanied
by gentlemen being admitted free.
Reservations may now be made by

The Amca representative is ex-
pected to leave for Europe next
week bring additional orphans
for settlement at the farm school
