Port Huron and adjacent beach-
es are reputed to be among the
most ideal vacation spots.
Having an estimated population
of 38,00 in 1928, and with an esti-
mated population figure for the
city and suburbs of 150,000, Port
Iluron's civic and industrial
growth during the past decade has
been a remarkable one.
Among its neighboring resorts
are St. ('lair, Marine City, Har-
bor Beach and Bad Axe.
Port Huron is gateway to the
upper lakes, and on the St. Clair
River, on Black River also, which
is navigable for several miles. Sit-
uated on the main line of the G.
T. Ry., running between Chicago,
Buffalo, Montreal and Portland,
Me. Upon completion of the Great
Lakes-to-Ocean project, Port Hur-
on will be the same as an ocean
port. Port Huron is the commer-
vial center of the "Thumb" dis-
trict of Michigan, and in time of
business depression is only affect-
ed slightly, owing to the various
l ines of industry. Summer resort
features: In Port Huron alone II
hotels and 250 cottages are tilled
each summer, and similar summer
houses dot the shores of river and
lake for 10 miles south and mare
than DM miles north. Resort ho-
tels in this district number 25, and
cottages already in the thousands
are multiplying rapidly. The sum-

In a letter from Muhmad Said
Mukhtar, sheik of the village of
Meron in l'alestine, addressed to
Dr. E. M. Bluestone, director of
the Hadassah Medical Organiza-
tion in Palestine, which is sup-
mined by Hadassah, the Wont( n'
Zionist Organization of America,
the sheik expresses the sincere ap-
preciation of the inhabitants of
Myron for the founding of a dis-
pensary which, in accordance with
the principles of the Hadassah
Medico Organization, will give
medical care to all who come for
aid without regard to race, color
or creed. Muhmild Said Mukhter
says:
"I, the undersigned, sheik of the
village of Myron, have the honor
to express to you, in my own name
and in the name of all the inhabi-
tants of the village, our profound
thanks for the mercy you have
shown us in founding a dispensary
in the Yeshivat Bar Jochai and
Home for the Aged in Merin.
"By doing so, you have taken an
importiant step which is bound to
bring great benefit to the inhabi
tants of our village. They will
know how to appreciate it, and will
look upon it as a valuable activity
in the field of medicine which will
strengthen the bonds of love and
friendship between the Arab and
the Jewish peoples. We beg to
express to yourself and to the Ila-
dassah :Medical Organization in
America our profound and sincere
thanks and good wishes for thor-
ough success in your work."
