dustry is noted on all sides.

Iltiwever, in any commentary on
the probable business fortunes of
the year just ahead it should be
borne in mind that forecasts are
metimes misleading and often
rendered empty by events beyond
view at the time. But, facts in
hand, opinions of leaders in various
phases of endeavor and general en-
thusiasm over the outlook combine
to provide a measure of confidence
over business prospects not always
available at this time of the year.

Here is an order of elegance never before thought possible in
a low-priced car. The beautiful new Fisher bodies are lower
and roomier and mounted on a wheelbase of 107.inches — four
inches longer than the previous Chevrolet chassis! The
higher, narrower and more graceful radiator ... the long,
straight lines of the new and deeper hood combine to express
a new order of staunchness and fleetness; while so eeping
crown, one-piece fenders and bullet•ype headlamps lendfinal
touches of custom distinction.

Leaders in all branches of nosi-
ness are keenly optimistic over the
outlook for 1920. Bankers, build-
ers, moan mists and manufacturers
in various ileitis are preparing for
a bigger year and painting at the
same time to the motor ear indus-
try rs the brightest of beacon
lights showing the way to new
business levels.

Interiors, too, are impressively beautiful—with rich new
upholsteries ... wide, restful seats... and a striking new corn.
pletely enclosed instrument panel, indirectly lighted.

And coupled with this arresting new beauty are thrilling new
acceleration and speed—the result of the most remarkable
chassis advancement that Chevrolet has ever announced—

Aside from the added trade ac-
tivity that promises to be preva-
lent during the year, four factors
immediately concerning the auto-
mobile business, seem to me to in-
dicate beyond a reasonable doubt
that the industry is invading its
greatest year.
The four, among others, that
should account fora measurable
gain in production and sales are:
1. The replart•ment
market,
which should be the greatest in the
history of the industry.
2. The two-car family, a trend
that started several years ago and
was first generally recognized as
an important sales factor in 1926.
3. The extended use of smaller
ears for commercial purposes.
4. Increased export sales
of
American cars as a result of the
readiustment of business condi-
tions and economic affairs abroad.
Business in the low price field
should be particularly active. Vol-
ume production in this range is
making it possible for the manu-
facturer to provide greaterr style

The picture before us for 1928 is
most reassuring. With trade con-

prosperity an established fact. it
becomes only a question of measure
as to how much additional ‘olume
the industry will do this year.
We, at the Chevrolet Motor
Company, are preparing for our
biggest year. I'lans already in mo-

"Time, the great healer," is used
to make harder and stronger the
cylinder blocks used in the new
Oldsmobile. The special alloy grey
iron castings are "cured" for a
long period of time before being
machined and used.

While being operated at the rate
of 25 miles per hour, the oil in the

crankcase of the new Oldsmobile is
automatically filteret1 every 10
minutes and this filtering removes
any injurious foreign substances
such as dust and grit that might
find their way into the lubrication
system.
