"Vagabond King" at Cass

Perhaps not before in Detroit's

theatrical annals has a production
been received with such splendid ac-
claim as was "The Vagabond King,"
the big musical play which opened
limited engagement at the Cam Thea-
ter on Monday evening last. A large
and cultural audience gathere at the
city's newest legitimate down-town
playhouse for the mid-west premiere
of the operetta and applauded long
and often from the rise of the first
to the fall of the final curtain.
Russell Janney of New York, pro-
ducer of "The Vagabond King," sent
a brilliant and finely-balanced cast
of principals for the Detroit engage-
ment of the play, including John
Mealey, H. Cooper Cliffe, Mark
Smith, Gene Wallin, Jane Victory,
Ethel Pasztor and more than 20 oth-
ers. The second week of "The Vaga-
bond King" opens on this Sunday
evening. Mail orders for tickets sent
from this place will have the careful
attention of the Cam Theater man -
agement.
