SPORT AND THE K. K. K.
We have just received a quite interesting letter from Mr. 'G. (the gen-
demon prefers to remain unknown) of Ohio. We are compelled to infer
that Mr. G. is quite young. Be that as it may, we shall attempt to convince
Mr. G. of the inaccuracy of his statement and show him that there is an
elusive something which must be taken into account besides the qualities'
which he so suavely names as characteristic of the good athlete.

Dear Sir:—I want to call your attention to your sporting column.
In particular to the bunk regarding the means by which the Jewish
youths win their victories. Anyone versed in sports would "IX" at
such statements. All victories by all athletes of an races are won by
a combination of endurance, strength, reserve of nervous energy and
sheer guts. Your remarks savor too much of the chauvinist and the
narrow nationalist—very much on the order of the K. K. K. The
Jew is just a normal being, in no way superior to other beings de-
veloped under similar conditions; to ascribe to him certain peculiari-
ties which would make him superior to his surroundings is pure
propaganda and utterly absurd to the thinking man. I make this
criticism in the hope that you will continue to foster athletics with-
out making your column an object of ridicule.
