On Sunday, June 22, the Hebrew
Ladies' Aid Society were hostesses
to the inmates of the Jewish Old
Folks' llome and the Hebrew Orphan
Home. The guests were taken on an
automobile ride, followed by refresh-
ments at the I. 0. B. A. hall. Mrs.
Kalish was chairman of the commit-
tee which took chagre of the children
and Mrs. E. Greenwald had charge
of the elderly folks. Mrs. Wilson
presided over the tea table.

The Detroit Ilebrew Orphan Home
announced that the card party which
was held for the benefit of the insti-
tution May 6 netted $835. Mrs. Hy-
man Cohen was, chairman. Officers
of the organization, who expressed

party, requested that those who have
not paid for the tickets do no as soon
as possible.

NEW YORK. —Ten persons were
injured last Sunday when the porch
of the Shield of David Orphanage for
Girls, located in the Bronx, this city,
collapsed during a festival held to
raise funds for the building. Four-
teen persons were on the porch when
the pillars supporting it gave way.
Four escaped uninjured, while 10
were carried down and received in-
juries that required treatment at a
hospital.
The building is more than 100!
years old and formerly was known
as the Pickle mansion. A year ago
it was purchased by the Shield of
David Society as an orphanage for
Kadimah Girls.
