such as the New Majestic have, in
0 great measure, been instrumental
in breaking down the opposition to
dancing, for in the refinement of its
appointments, the artistry of its in-
structors, the care and dignity that
always obtains in its doncing classes,
the New Majestic is unsurpassed. To
get an adequate idea of the New Ma-
jestic one has only to visit the place.
The main dance hall is decorated
with flowers and ornaments, giving
an exquisite appearance. The orches-
tra stand is placed in the south-center
of the floor. At the present time the
mere hall is delicately decorated with
Hallowe'en paraphernalia — a pro-
fusion of corn husks, pumpkins,
masks and numerous and diverse em-
blems end designs.

CHRISTIANITY ADOPTED
BY 11.660 GERMAN JEWS
FROM YEAR 1880 to 1919

liEltLIN (J. T. A.)—A total of
11 .1'60 Jews et/thrived Protestant
Christianity in Germany from 1880
till 1918, according to statistic's /wit
made public. Half of the apostates
are from Berlin.
This number does ac t include Jew-
ish children who were baptized at
birth nor does it include those join-
ing the Catholic church.
According to Deleroi, the well-
known Jewish apostate, the total num-
ber of Jews who adopted Christianity
in Germany during the 19th century
numbers no less than 224,000.

LITHUANIA LIQUIDATES
THE JEWISH MINISTRY
BERLIN (J. T. A.)—The Lithu-

anian Government is gradually liqui-
dating the de facto Jewish ministry,
it is learned on the basis of the esti-
mates for 1924. In this budget the
son of 12,000 lit, slightly above

$1,000, has been allocated for the Jew-
ish ministry for the coming year. Thin,
it is pointed out will suffice to pay
the salary of only a second rate sec-
retary, the ambitious ministry thus
being reduced to the skeleton of •
secretariat. All departments attached
to the ministry are being closed, while
the Jewish Minister himself remains
a member of the cabinet without •
portfolio.
