too many attractions offered that will engage the attention of

with an efficient, scholarly group of rabbis, who will fire and
inspire, then it will be no difficult matter to kindle a spirit of
appreciation and understanding of our many treasures. But if

among the adults as well as the future generation.
We cannot emphasize too strongly the need for raising this
fund with all possible speed. And notwithstanding the able
leadership of Rabbi Drob, Louis Marshall and David A. Brown,

united Jewry.
For our part, we would like to see the fund oversubscribed

And in the crisis that exists—and
a crisis does exist, for we are being
betrayed even by our friends the Brit-
ish—where are our leaders? At the
recent World Congress held at Karla-
bad, a false issue was created. The
Jewish Agency was made a problem,
and the American delegation, coming
to the international conference by
swinging a club supposedly made of
gold, forced this issue upon the world
delegation. There are many who be-
lieve, and not without reason, that the
European delegates knew that it was
a false issue, yet they were forced to
submit to the influence of the Ameri-
can dollar, because the delegation
from the United States controlled the
finances. And so the Jewish Agency
plan was placed on the calendar to
the exclusion of other really impor-
tant problems. As if it were a ques-
tion of England building Palestine
for us! As if it is not generally es-
tablished that there is only one power
that can build the homeland! That
power is the Jew! And no agency
will attract the Jew unless the will
to build actually exists. There is
nothing in a name, and the mere pro-
posal of a new issue in the form of the
Jewish Agency can hardly bring
