Symphony Season Tickets.
The serious work of the musical
season begins Monday morning when
the Symphony Orchestra meets for
its first rehearsal at 10 o'clock. The
first program of the Reason to be
played the following week on Thurs.
tiny and Friday evenings comprises
the Second Leonora Overture of
Beethoven, the Violin Concerto of
Brahma and the Fifth Symphony of
Tschaikovsky with Efrem Zimbalist
as soloist. Nttne of this music pre-
sents great difficulties in preparation
because it is familiar to all the mem-
bers of the orchestra, even those who
are joining this year. It is always
the care of the wise conductor to make
his first program of the season of
music more or less familiar because
it is deemed inexpedient to attempt
novelties until the orchestra is thor-
oughly "shaken down" to its work
and Mr. Gabrilowitsch makes no ex-
ception to the rule.
All the members of the orchestra
have reached Detroit from the various
parts of the country where they have
spent the Kummer and all of them
are eager for the work to begin. A
week ago a list of the members was
published. This shows comparatively
few changes which is a most gratify-
ing eondiiton and hi r. Gabrilowitsch
is certain that the work this year
will start almost where it ended last

There are some patrons of the sym•

in their checks for their season tick-

portunity to warn them thnt unless
this is done they stand a very good
chance of losin • their seats. The sale
of season tickets during, the past few
weeks has net only been large but it
has been Fleetly and the last week
hat shown a decided increase over the
weeks preceding. In the cheaper parts
of the house, and particularly in the
$8 meats, there are only a few tickets
left and any one who wishes to take
advantage of these remarkably cheap
rates should lose no time in calling at
the offices of the Symphony Society
in Orchestra Hall.

Last Week of "How Come."
From Newark attorney to writer of
successful scores and producer, is the
record established by Ben Harris,
whose latest musical comedy success,
"How Come," is now playing its last
successful week at the Shubert-Mich-

years has devoted a great deal of his
time to writing of scores and several
have been very successful. In spite
of this record he declares that "How

best he has ever recorded.

On Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kip-

China, the Canal Zone, Ilaiti and San

States, the hoard provided either spe-
cial religious services for the men in
uniform, or arranged for their being
welcomed at various synagogues. At
the same time, the board provided
lodgings and meals for the High Holy
Day period. Furloughs had been
granted at the request of the Jewish
Welfare Board by the War and Navy
Departments and the Veterans Bu-
