Diversified summer pleasures in
the form of outdoor amusements are
much in vogue among those who are
remaining in the city during the
warm weather. Many delightful af-
fairs at the Redford Country Club
0 and picnics at Belle Isle, as well as
boat ride parties on the steamers ply-
ing between Detroit and the many
charming up-river resorts have been
given within recent date for out-of-
town visitors who are enjoying the
hospitality of their hosts. Among
those for whom affairs of that kind
were given were Mrs. Nathan Sloss
(Marjorie Sloman), who has been a
guest at the home of her sister, Mrs.
Irving Hirschman of Hazelwood ave-
nue, and her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Adolph Sloman, at their summer
home at Sans Souci, and Miss Re-
becca Myers, a member of the school
faculty of Alpena, Mich., who is visit-

of the Lehigh apartments on Brush

ADVOCATES JEWISH
REPRESENTATION IN
LEAGUE OF NATIONS
VIENNA.—(J. T. A.)—A sugges-
tion that it would be highly desirable
for Jews to have a representation as
Jews in the League of Nations Union
was made here by Sir Willoughby
Dickinson, chairman of the minorities
commission of the League of Nations.
Such a representation would be
invaluable in safeguarding the rights
of Jewry throughout the world, Sir
Willoughby said.
The British government, he added,
is always seeking its far as possible
to uphold the rights of Jew's without
discriminations. The minorities com-
mission of the league, he said, is well
acquainted with the oppressive steps
against Jews in various countries and
as far as it is in its power will seek
to curb them.
ROTHSCHILD GREETS
AMERICAN ZIONISTS
LONDON. — (J. T. A.) — Friend-
ship between England and America
is greater because of the American
Jews' "gratitude for the magnani-
mous action of the British in facili
toting the upbuilding of the Jewish
national home," Morris Rothenberg
of New York, a representative of the
Zionist Organization of America to
the Zionist Congress in Carlsbad on
Aug. 6, declared at a luncheon here
tendered by the English Zionist Fed-
eration to the American delegates.
Nahum Sokolow, chairman of the
executive committee of the World
Zionist Organization, presided.
Lord Walter Rothschild, the prin-
cipal speaker, said: The cause we
have at heart, the establishment of
the Jewish national home, owes much
to American Jews who have provided
the great proportion of the funds to
accomplish the great task handed the
Jews under the Balfour Declaration."
Emanuel Neumann, secretary of
the Keren Ilayesod, in his talk said
there was much money in America,
but it was not in the hands of the
Zionists. The money gathered by the
Keren Ilayesod came principally from
poor Jews, he said.

Many motorists who traverse the
lake Shore drive to Mt. Clemens and
adjacent towns along the Detroit
river invariably stop en route at the
Jewish Fresh Air Camp to witness
the many children at their play or
enjoying their favorite pastime—

the beaming and happy countenances
of the youngsters who are privileged

Thome interested in the welfare of
