All Detroit remembers that great
little woman who showed so much
genuine emotion in the Fannie Hurst
picture of some years ago, "Hu-
morsque." This same little woman,
known as Vera Gordon, and now rec-
ognized as the screen's greatest emo-
tional artist, Is coming to Detroit in
person, for a limited engagement.
The reason for Miss Gordon's com-
ing is the opening of her newest and
greatest motion picture triumph,
"Your Best Friend," at the Broad-
way-Strand Theater, beginning Sun-
day, May 7. Due to Miss Gordon's
Eastern engagement, she will be un-
able to get to Detroit before Monday,
May 8, when she will be seen mati-
nees and nights and every day there-
after.
"Your Best Friend" is a story of
a wealthy Jewish widow, who is set
upon by two scheming adventuresses.
How she manages to escape them,
how she saves her children from ruin,
forms one of the most dramatic pho-
toplays produced this year. Some in-
teresting members of the cast include,
besides Vera Gordon, Dore Davidson,
the father in "Ilumoresque," Belle
Bennett, famous etage star, last seen
in the New York success, "The Demi-
Virgin," and Harry Benham.
As an added feature of interest,
Mr. Gleichman, manager of the
Broadway-Strand, has also engaged
the noted operatic star, Mr. Zario, to
sing "Eli Eli" during the showing of
"Your Best Friend." Mr. Zario will
be remembered for his splendid Sing-
ing during the showing of "Hu-
moresque" at this theater.
