LONDON.—(J. C. B. ) —D r. Oscar
Although many attempts have been Levy, the English translator of

rote traveling opera companies, all
have been dismal failures until An-
tonia Scotti formed the Scotti Grand
Opera Organization.
It is due to him alone that the ven-
ture has always been a success.. En-
dowed with personal magnitism and
understanding of his art as well as
his artists, Scotti has been able to do
that thing which no. other private in-
dividual would even attempt, namely,
building up an operatic organization
without any financial aid other than
the support of the public.
The Scotti Opera company owes its
success primarily to the fact that Mr.
Scotti was able from the very begin-
ining to surround himself with some
of the best known of the Metropolitan
Opera Company's artists and through
his long association with the Metro-
politan, was able to secure the co- op-
eration of the technical staff, includ-
ing the use of stage properties, scen-
ery and costumes from the famous
house.
Mr. Scotti has no ambition for fin-
ancial gain with his venture. Ile
wants to give the vast American pub-
lic opportunity to hear the very best
opera that can be produced without
regard to cost, to make opera more
appreciated in this busy country
for SPORTS and
where too little time is given to the
study of music. His staff on the
STREET WEAR
western tour is larger than that of the
Metropolitan and he carries six bag-
