The Bicur Chulem Juniors are mak-
ing preparations for what is expected
to be one of the most unique affairs
ever given by a Detroit Jewish or-
ganization. A committee headed by
Nathan H. Scholnick has been ap-
pointed to arrange for a masquerade
ball, to be held on Sunday evening,
Mar. 6, at the Shaarey Zedek, the
first Jewish public affair of its kind
to be given in this city.

Mrs. Julia Weingarden, a resident
of Detroit for the past 38 years,
passed away at her home Saturday
afternoon, February 19. The de-
; ceased was prominent in local Jewish
circles and was a member of several
Jewish charitable associations. Sur-
' riving her are her children, Mrs.
Mary Solinsky, Lillian Weingarden,
Chief Moses Weingarden, of Detroit,
and J. A. Weingarden, of Chicago. 14
grandchildren and one great grand-
: child. Rabbi Judah L. Levin °filo-
ated at the funeral services, which
took place on Monday.

Chaim Nathan Aronstam, of 72
Gladstone avenue, died on Feb. 9 at
the age of 89. Mr. Aronstam was
born in Courland, in July, 1832. He
came to this country 29 years ago.
He is survived by an only son, Dr.
N. E. Aronstam, of 72 Gladstone ave-
nue, with whom he lived ever since
he came to this country. Funeral was
held from Dr. Aronstam's home.
Rabbi A. M. Hershman officiated.
Internment took place at the Clover
Hill cemetery.
Funeral services for Miss Sopha A.
Hoffman were held from the home of
her brother-in-law, I'. D. Jacobson,
1310 Warren avenue, east. Miss Hoff-
man is survived by her mother, Mrs.
B. Hoffman, a brother, Morris, and a
