Miss Lillian Monash, of Cleveland,
0., formerly of this city, passed away
October 19, after a brief illness. She
was 24 years old.
Miss Monash, who is the (laughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Monash and a
sister of Mr. Emery Monash of this
city, has many friends in Detroit
who mourn her loss.

She served as a teacher of the
Shaarey Zedek Sunday School for
seven years and as a Hebrew teacher
for three. She was at one time a
member of the Jewish Chronicle staff
and was the author of many articles
on the Hadassah movement which
saw publication in Jewish journals
throughout the country. She was an
enthusiastic worker in the l'enny
Lunch movetnent sponsored by the
Jewish Woman's Club and spent sev-
eral hours each week in the Chil-
dren's Hospital, entertaining the 'sick
children with stories and games.
She possessed a sweetness of char-
acter and a gentleness of soul that
endeared her in the hearts of all with
whom she came into contact. In
tribute to her memory the liadassah
will cause to be planted a 'row of
trees in the Menzel forest near Jaffe,
in Palestine.
Among the pall-bearers at the
funeral were Nathan H. Goldstick,
Ilyinan Keidan, Henry Meyers, Sam-
uel J Rhodes, Isadore Levin, Abra-
ham Levin, Louis Cohane, Louis
Wine, William Wine, %Volt Keidan,
and Roy Rosenthal. The funeral as.

PARIS.—The local police raided
the Jewish quarter and arrested 60
Polish Jews. The "Action France"
and other local publications have
started a campaign against the fur-
ther admission of Eastern Jews into
France. These papers in their attacks
accuse the Chief Rabbi of lacking in
patriotism because he is aiding in the
establishment of an immigrant home
despite the fact that the assimilation-
ist Jews despise their Eastern breth-
