WEEKLY MARKET REVIEW

During the past week several of the
issues listed on the Local Board have
been subject to more or less price re-
cession. Sugars apparently have been
the only class to hold firm in the face
of the liquidation which has bees in
progress. 'Minnesota, Michigan and
Columbia Sugar have not only held
their strength, but have advanced dur-
ing the course of the week's trailing.
Motors, us it rule, have displayed a,
tendency to weakness. The drop in
the market price of Paige-Detrolt, how-
ever, is due to the stock dividend
which has recently been declared by
that company. However, it is estimat-
ed that this particular security will
rogain its strength in view of the fact
that the dividend rate of 36 per cent
per annum is to be continued by the
company.
Continental, Federal, Ford of Cana-
da, Lincoln, Packard and Iles all
changed hands on the floor during the
past week. Detroit Edison sold off,
but recovered some of its loss, while
other public utilities to figure in the
week's transactions were American
Light and Cities Service. Bank stocks
have been popular, and trailing has
been well distributed throughout the
balance of the list, Charcoal iron, Co-
ahuila, Gladys Belle, Kresge, Linder-
man Steel, Hayes Manufacturing,
Western Knitting, Timken Axle and
Scotten-Dillon all being the subjects of
sales,

Wright, Kay & Co.'s
New Location

Another of the old established busi-
ness firms of the city is changing its
location. Wright & Kay are moving
one block up Woodward avenue.
Henceforth the upper corner of
Woodward and John R street will be
known as the Wright-Kay corner.
In years gone by this building was
occupied by Schwankowsky's music
store and in more recent years by
jewelry firms. Now it is being en-
tirely remodeled, so when alterations
are completed it will become one of
the handsomest jewely stores in the
country.
The first and second floors will be
used as show-rooms—diamonds,
watches, jewelry and sterling silver
tieing on the main floor and Sheffield
silver, stationery and clocks on the
second floor. This will allow almost
double the floor space occupied in the
old location. This additional space
necessary to take care of the firm's
rapidly growing business. All de-
partments will be conducted upon the
second floor temporarily until the
building alterations are completed.

No less futile are the efforts of many to-
day who seek riches from speculation.

if the everyday business
transactions of an organization
are recorded in a way that re-
veals with instant intelligi-
bility the entire nature of every
transaction, the strictest watch
and "checking up" on the ev-
eryday affairs of the business
are possible.

There is but one formula for prosperity

—thrift and conservative investment of the rewards
of thrift. Our First Mortgage Bonds are a splendid
medium for the investment of your earnings. Each
bond is an integral unit of a closed first mortgage
secured by income producing real estate. Our loans
to property owners are conservative—never more
than 50", of the cash valuation of the property. Our
bonds pay 6",, and are tax exempt in 'Michigan. We
would be pleased to answer any questions you may
have about them.

This, however, is not possible
without the adoption of effici-
ent systematizing methods.

And that calls for the special-
ized knowledge of certified
public accountants.
