Horrors! Could that be possible?
He was doing some fancy stunts now
on the flying rings, and was actually
being anplauded by all the old men
and women. But, what was this? A
woman trying to jump two feet one
inch in the air, and succeeded, too!
Would miracles never end?
Instead of turning away in pious
horror at the sight, he seemed to be
fascinated by it. They were going
upon the track now, and all the old
men were going to race the old wo-
men. The Lord have pity on his soul!
He was going to race his own wile!
Murder! That was what Reb Chaim
saw awaiting him if his wife lost out.
But he struggled bravely to defend
the honor of his sex, and Won.
'The terrible tortures that Reb
Chaim suffered cannot be actually
described. Reb Chaim almost kissed
his wife when he found that it was
merely a dream; but was saved the
trouble of doing so by a smart rap
on his mouth.
Forever after, as long as he lived,
Rob Chaim never forgot to enjoy to
the utmost that blissful fifteen min-
utes or so before falling asleep.

AN APPEAL IS MADE TO THE PEOPLE OF DETROIT TO BECOME
THE APOSTLES OF RUIN
Many of you have not been in this city as long as some of the rest. Let the newcomers ask
their elders how long the politicians have lived on the street car issue.
They will learn that if there was good street car service in Detroit the politicians would have
nothing to talk about. It is the politicians who have prevented the making of new tracks and
the running of more cars.
It is the politicians who have been promising better things and then preventing the railway
from accomplishing them.
Today they are saying: "Follow us again and we will give you good things next week, next
month, next year."
In the Talmud in Chaggigah, Folio 10, Col. 1, we read:
"ONE PEPPERCORN TODAY IS BETTER THAN A BASKETFUL OF PUMPKINS
TOMORROW."
