Isaac Pincus, who settled in Tacoma in 1858, noted during his lifetime
as one of the greatest hop merchants in the world, died at his home last
month. Mr. Pincus, who was a veteran of the Indian war, served as county
coroner and later as a member of the city council of Tacoma.

It has transpired that at Kecskemet, Hungary, Lieutenant Hejjas ab-
ducted 51 Jews on suspicion that they were Bolsheviks. Twenty-two of them
were found outside the town murdered and robbed of all they possessed.
The whereabouts of the other 29 is not known, but it is believed that all
were shot.

It is reported in Paris that the Moscow government has organized a
special committee to combat anti-Semitism, with Lenine himself as the head.
The other members of the committee are said to be Maxim Gorky, Luna-

The Socialist leader, Otto Landsberger, has been appointed as German
Ambassador in Brussels. Landsberger is a Jew, born of Jewish parents and
married to a Jewish woman; but he has allowed himself to be officially reg.
istered in the Parliamentary records as without any professed religious
belief.
General Sir John Monash was rapturously welcomed on his return to
Australia by ex-soldiers, who bore him shoulder-high along St. Kilda Pier.
Replying to an address of welcome, Sir John paid an eloquent tribute to the
character and work of the Australian, whose success, he said, was due to the
mutual confidence and sympathy between the leaders and the men.

Judge Milton Strasburger has tendered his resignation to the President
after a service of more than five and one-half years on the Municipal Court
bench of the District of Columbia. A desire to return to private law practice
was assigned as the reason for his resignation, which is to take effect just as
soon as his successor is appointed.
