In the call that comes to us now, there is an appeal to the Jew.
Aside from the fact that every right-minded Jew will wish to do his
share in the support of all the noble institutions whose permanents
and usefulness would be seriously threatened by the failure of the I
Patriotic Fund to gather its full quota, the Jews should bear in mind
that many of their own institutions are asking for exceedingly large

sums of money out of the total amount to be gathered. A budget
of three hundred and fifty thousand dollars is set aside for Jewish
foreign relief alone. Other organizations dependent upon the Pa-
triotic Fund for their maintenance are the United Jewish Charities
and the Jewish Fresh Air Society, in addition to several organizations
—Jewish in character—that figure for considerable amounts of capi-
