The suggestion offered by Mr. Cody
to fight economic illiteracy, so prevae
lent in the public schools, through
the medium of, educational, newspaper
and magazine articles, was greoted
with warm approval by his hearers.
"In order to mitt radicalism and
Bolshevism, we must insist that our
children be given definite lessons in
economics," declared Mr. Cody. "Un-
der our old text-book system, we are
turning out economic illiterates. It is
a vicious thing to allow that system
to go unchecked. We must Ameri-
canize the American children by
teaching them that there is a reason
why prices are high. We must ex-
plain why everybody in the world is
engaged in the second-story game.
