After some witty sallies, Rabbi \N'a-
terman, who was recently installed at
Kalamazoo, spoke briefly on the
"Significance of Purim." It has never
been a religious festival, he explain-
ed, but has rather been simply an
occasion of festivity. lint if it has a
real significance, that significance is ,
to be found in the refusal of Nlorde-
Lai, who would "neither prostratej

their value on August 31, 1914, and
that any unearned increment created
by the entry of the British army is
not to go to the present _landlords of
Palestine, but to the whole commun-
ity. Jew and Gentile alike, such un-
earned increment to be taken by the
state in the form of taxation. This
is in keeping with a resolution adopt-
t,1 at the convention of the Zionist
organization of America, in Pitts-
burgh. last June, laying down as one
of the fundamental principles of the
Jewish commonwealth in Palestine
the prevention of laud speculation.
Mrs. Mary Fels. one of the lead-
ing American advocates of single tax,

THE HAYNES AND
THE PRICE MARKET'
"There has been so much discus-
sion about motor car prices," states
Mr. Don L. Watson, local manager
of The Haynes Automobile Com-
pany, "that motor car buyers have
been led to believe that there will be
a genetal marked decrease all around.
This is a wrong interpretation about
the price situation. Nlanufactiders ful-
ly realize this kind of thought, and
arc endeavoring to correct the men-
tal attitude of the general public.
Food, clothing and labor fundamen-
tally regulate the price market, and
before there is any marked decrease
along these lines, motor car buyers
may hardly expect to see the 'bottom
fall out,' so to speak.

as they ati't today. Everyone knows
that labor is still scarce. Food and
clothing prices arc not yet marked
down. Steel, pig iron and many oth-
er commodities which regulate the
price market arc still high above their
normal plane. So long as this state
of economic condition continues, a
motor car buyer might just as well
buy now. After all, it is WORTH
he is buying, and not all article for
so many dollars and cents. Motor
cars should be bought from the
standpoint of worth to the user," con-
tinues \I r. 'Watson. "lf a mail wants
a motor car, if his business necessi-
tates one, he is benelitting himself
by placing his order early, because
the demand is still much greater
than the supply. And that, you know
has a big bearing on price."

LIMIT IMMIGRATION TO
PALESTINE AT 50,000
Immigration to Palestine will be
limited to 50,000 a year during the
first period of development of the
Jewish commonwealth which is to be
established in that country under the
, trusteeship of Great Britain. This is
one of a series of important resolu-
tions which have been cabled to the
Zionist organization of .Ninerica, as
having been adopted by the Inter-
allied Zionist Conference which has
lust concluded its sessions in I.on-
don. Clearing houses for this immi-
gration will be established in Lon-
don and in a neutral country.
The London conference, which was
attended by about 211 delegates from
this country, as well as by represent-
at:yes of the Zionist organization of
all the allied countries, also adopted
a resolution offered by 'Mr. Bernard
A. Rosenblatt, of New York City,
that all lands in Palestine, irrespec-
tive of their present ownership, shall
lie assessed by the government to be
