Of simple but beautiful appointments was the wedding of Miss
Birdie Koplowitz and Mr. Maurice S. Arnovits of Laurium, Mich.,
which was solemnized on Wednesday evening, August 15, in the
home of the bride's parents on Aledbury avenue. Rabbi Leo M.
Franklin, assisted by Rabbi Koplowitz, father of the bride, performed
the ceremony in the presence of the immediate family and a few close
friends. Miss Koplowitz wore a charming gown of georgette crepe
and carried a shower of roses. Attending her was her sister, Miss
Ruth Koplowitz, who wore a frock of pink satin trimmed in touches
of blue, and carried an armful of pink roses. Mr. Leon Koplowitz
acted as best man. Tall palms and ferns and vases of pink gladioli
formed the decorations in the home, and music was furnished during
the evening by Kutson's Orchestra. Mr. and Mrs. Arnovits have left
for a short trip to Chicago and Ottawa Beach, and will be at home
in Laurium after September 1. Out-of-town guests included Mr. and
Mrs. A. Silberberg and son Milton of Oil City, Penn. ; Mr. and Mrs.
Joseph Ringold of Toledo ; Mr. Charles Simon of Fort Wayne, and
Miss Sallan of Leavenworth, Kas. Mr. and Mrs. Silberberg -, who mo-
tored from Oil City, are accompanied home by Mrs. Koplowitz.
The Misses Henrietta and Sayde
Hertzberg of Medbury avenue have
returned home from a trip to Cleve-
land and Cedar Point.
Mr. and Mrs. Lewis J. De Young
and daughter Dorothy, who have
been the guests of Mr. and Mrs.
Henry Anthony of Bay City, re-
turned to, the city on Friday and
left Sunday for Cedar Point, where
they are registered at the Breakers.

Mayer Benjamin Teplitz, Esq.,
a prominent attorney of Pittsburgh,
Pa., a member of the staff of the
Prosecuting, Attorney's office of
Allegheny county, was a visitor in
Detroit the past week. Mr., Teplitz
is one of the most active workers
in Jewish communal affairs in the
Smoky City, being one of the
founders of the Y. M. H. A. He
is an ardent Zionist and has initiat-
ed a movement to recruit several

Mr. and Mrs. Joseph L. Selling
have left for a motor trip through
the East. They will visit their
daughter Louise, who is at • summer
camp in )Maine.
Sewing for the Red Cross is held
in the parlors of Temple Beth El
on Tuesday and Thursday of each
week, both morning and afternoon.
A large attendance is hoped for on
both days, in order that the neces-
sary aniount of work may be ac-
complished. The committee in
charge will appreciate the loan of
several additional sewing machines.

spending some time at Mackinac

daughters, Sarah and Ruth, have
returned from a month's stay at
Omena.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry J. Lippman
of 99 Warren avenue east are mak-
ing a three weeks' tour on the St.
Lawrence River, stopping at sev-
eral points of interest, and return-
ing via Lake George and the Hud-
son River.
Mr. and Mrs. Leopold Wineman
have arrived home from a visit in
Indianapolis.
Mrs. Herbert T. Sloman and
daughter Lizbeth have returned
from a two weeks' visit at the Flats.
Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Weil of
Colorado avenue and Mr. and Mrs.
Mark Weinbeck have left for a mo-
tor trip through the East. They.
will spend several days in New
York and Atlantic City.
Mrs. J. Herstein, Miss Helen
Herstein, Marcus Herstein and
Miss Ruth Lipsitz have returned
from a delightful stay at Ottawa
Beach.
Mr. and Mrs. Louis Hoffman
announce the Bar Mitzvah of their
grandson, Leonard Simons, on Sat-
urday, September 1, at 'Congrega-
tion Shaarey Zedek. They will be
at home on Sunday, September 2,
from 2 to 5 and 8 to 10.
