THE JEWISH CHRONICLE

TO TAKE PART IN ZIONIST
WHY DR. SOLOMON SOLIS COHEN
AT B ALTIMORE
CONVENTION REFUSED
(Continued from page 6)

Let that pass, however, as a well-
intentioned "faux pas," and not a
sinister suggestion. Either way, it is
not very creditable to the Zionist or-
g anization leader's estimate of his
constituents' honor or honesty.
But the real significance of the let-
ter goes deeper, and if this does not
open your eyes, I am afraid nothing
will. Take the opening paragraph:

A. B. NEWMAN CO.

"Jewish nationalism is the basic principle
of the Zionist movement. Therefore every
Zionist candidate is expected to vote for na-
tional rights for the Jews of Poland. The
candidate who professes to favor a Jewish
homeland in Palestine must also state his
agreement with the principle of national recog-
nition for the Jews in Poland. Only if he
does this is he entitled to unqualified Zionist
support."
Let pass the arrogant assumption

of dictatorial powers. Mr. Lipsky is
a political boss, and exercises un-
