Zionist Convention at Baltimore Begins June 24
The New
Will Be Most Important Gathering in History of Move-
ment—Will Last Until June 28-1,000
Delegates to Attend
Every indication is that the conven-
tion which begins in Baltimore on
June 24 will be the largest as well as
the most important that the Zionists
have ever held 'in this country. It
gains importance front the fact that it
follows almost immediately upon the
adjournment of the first Zionist Con-
gress ever held in Russia, where a
strong stand in favor of Jewish na-
tional autonomy in Palestine was
taken by the delegates. Of even
greater importance is the political
situation relating to Palestine and the
possibility of an early realization of
the plan to "establish a publicly rec-
ognized, legally assured homeland for
the Jewish people." Although nothing
definite is known concerning the pro-
gress of the political situation, it is
believed in some quarters that the con-
vention will be electrified by an im-
portant announcement by those who
may speak with authority in the mat-
ter; at any rate, the anticipation that
this convention may mark an historic
moment in the life of the Jewish peo-
ple is whetting the eagerness with
which the delegates are flocking to
Baltimsore, and is causing the eyes of
many Jewish people to be strained to-
ward that city.
Several hundred delegates are al-
ready in Baltimore and every train ar-
riving Sunday morning will be met by
reception committees who will help
the delegates to get located quickly
and proceed to the convention hall.
Including the delegates of the subor-
dinate branches of the movement, it is
antiCipated that there will be very
nearly one thousand delegates to this
convention. Among the organizations
represented will be the Provisional
Executive Committee for General
Zionist Affairs, the Federation of Am-
erican Zionist s, Hadassah, the
Achooza-Comonwcalth Organization,
the Intercollegiate Zionist Association,
the Palestine Bureau, the Histadruth
Ibrith and Young Judaea.

committee has arranged. to give each
of the subordinate organizations am-

ternal affairs. Sunday morning there

and city councils and registration of
