AWARENESS.
By Miriam Teichner.

(In the New York Globe.)
God—let Inc be aware.
Let me not stumble blindly down the
ways,
Just getting somehow safely through
the days,
Not even groping for another hand,
Not even wondering why it all was
ph-tnned,
Eves to the ground unseeking for the
light,
Soul never aching for a wild-winged
flight.
I'lease, keep me eager, just to do my
share.
God—let me be aware.

God—let Inc be aware.
Stab my soul fiercely with others'
pain,
Let me walk, seeing horror and stain.
Let my hands, groping, find other
hands.
Give me the heart that divines, under-
stands.
Give me the courage, wounded, to
fight.
Flood me with knowledge, drench inc
in light.
Please—keep inc eager, just to do my
share.
God—let me be aware.

JEWISH HOMELESS IN
POLAND.

Copenhagen.—Owing to the fact
that a number of Jewish homeless can-
not return to their one-time homes,
because nothing has been left of those
homes, the Relief Section for Jewish
Homeless in Warsaw cannot wind tip
its activities.
The section is now taking care of
a number of children, aged, and in-
curables. These are distributed in
different branches, the central home
of which has 346 individuals, includ-
ing 130 children, who arc taught
Polish, arithmetic and gymnastics. In
another branch, 131 girls and 110 boys

are maintained. Through the efforts
of B. Eiger, a new branch was re-
cently opened especially intended for
sickly children. This department now
has 40 inmates, all of them orphans.
Everything possible is being done for
•these unfortunate youngsters, in phy-
sical development, study, and in-
struction in light occupations.
The average expense of the section
works out at the rate of 12 roubles a
month per child, and 18 per adult.
All around, the section has a monthly

expense of 12,300 roubles, 10,800 of
which amount is contributed by the
city, the remainder being made up by
private donations.
The good work of the section in
the past can best be estimated by
these figures: During its existence it
served out 4,859,298 meals, and pro-
vided 1,500,932 beds. At that period,
Warsaw had no less than 50,000 home-
less Jewish souls, and the expense of
the section exceeded 40,000 roubles a
month.

Don't let your life be ruled by the almighty dollar.
Sfop in your rush after money and your own selfish
ppiness cnd think of the loved ones that have passed away.
In the East everyone remembers Memorial Day. Let
us of the West not be backward in this respect.
See that the graves of members of the family are not
neglected on this day—and have flowers in the home as a
tribute to those who once brightened life for you.
A few flowers on the picture of the ones whose mem-
ory we cherish.
