Provident Life and Trust Co., an Old
Quaker Institution Waives All
Military Restrictions.
Human life in war times is not always
looked upon as a "war risk" by all life
insurance companies. The citizen in
civilian pursuits is assured a life in-
surance policy free of a war clause
by at least one insurance firm provided
he holds a policy with the firm prior
to entering military service or before
lie makes up his mind to enlist. The
firm that has waived its rights to insert
a war clause into its policies is the
Provident Life & Trust Co, The local
general agent of the company, Nathaniel
Reese, who has offices in the Ford build-
ing, says that his company is insuring
applicants, who follow occupations in
civil life, without stipulating that they
sign an abridging war clause.
"In time of war, when the risk of
human life is unusually great, it has
been the customs of life insurance com-
panies to write a war clause into their
policies either by charging heavy addi-
tional premiums or by reducing the
amount payable in the event of death,"
said Mr. Reese. "The extra premium
charged by some companies on new in-
surance is from $50 to $250.00 a year on
each $1,000 policy."
Mr. Reese further stated that his com-
pany, which is an old Quaker institu-
