Mrs. Emanuel T. Berger and son
Donald will leave next week for a
visit in Wheeling, West Va. ,

Mr. Naihan Sloss of Cleveland
spent Wednesday in Detroit.

Dr. Louis Hirschman was gen-
eral chairman of the committee on
arrangements for the medical con-
vention which was in session in
Detroit.
Mildred Epstein, daughter of M r.
and Mrs. Bernard Epstein, acted as
hostess to fifteen of her playmates
upon the occasion of her fifth birth-
day, at the residence of her grand-
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Israel Mel-
len, on Hancock avenue.

Mr. G. Gustave Falck of New
York spent the week-end in De-
troit.

Rabbi Franklin returned on Tues-
day morning from New York,
where he was called by the death
of Mr. Arthur D. Brandeis. Mr.
Brandeis was a member of Rabbi
Franklin's first congregation in
Omaha, Neb., and a close personal
friendship has been maintained
through all these years between the
Brandeis family and Rabbi Frank-
lin. Mr. Brandeis was the leading
merchant in Nebraska, having built
up the largest department store west
of Chicago. He is survived by three
children and a widow who was Zer-
lina Freedman of Detroit.

Mr. Jacob G. Brown has returned
from New York, where he went to
attend the funeral of Mr . . Arthur
Brandeis.

Mr. N. Maxwell Friedman of De-
troit is a member of the graduating
class of Harvard, 1916. Mr. Fried-
man has made a splendid record in
his college career and has won many
honors for work accomplished.

Mr. Henry M. Butzel is spending
a few days in New York.

Mr. Leo M. Butzel has returned
from a business trip to New York.

Mrs. Dora Graff of 134 H. Forest
Avenue announces the engagement
of her daughter, Rosalind, to NI r.
David Ebner.

Mr. and NIrs. Joseph Zalkowitz
announce the engagement of their
daughter, Sallie, to Mr. Paul Dru-
ker of Boston, NI ass.

A very pretty wedding took place
on Sunday, June 11, when NIiss
Helen Meisener was united in mar-
riage to Mr. Louis Chimovitz at
the home of the bride, 350 Freder-
ick avenue. After an extended
wedding trip through the east Mr.
and Mrs. Chimovitz will be at home
in Flint, Mich.

Miss Gertrude Applebaum and
Mr. Maurice Miller were united in
marriage on June 14, Rabbi Leo NI.
