Wednesday, February 4, 2015 // The Statement 8B Alex Koi doesn’t just perform music, she embodies it. She has a quiet confidence offstage and the kind of commanding presence onstage that can hold the rapt atten- tion of an audience, whether she’s singing jazz or indie electronic. She says her mind is bursting with melodies that seem effortlessly articulated, as if they always existed. Koi is a senior studying history and jazz vocal performance. She recently left the band Caves after a year of collaboration to pursue solo work in jazz and other improvisational music.
