'M' Men Are Popular Because They
Shun Lipstick, Ankle Socks, Etc.
A recent survey taken by sixteen
reporters on the campus reveals the
reasons behind the extreme popular-
ity of Michigan men. Some five hun-
dred coeds (all female students at
the University) were contacted and
asked why they were so crazy about
Michigan men (all male students at
the University). A composite of their
answers is given below:
1. They are all Michigan men. The
mere fact that a man attends this
vast institution of learning and love
seems to give him an irresistable at-
traction, say some of the coeds.
2. They are all men. This point
needs no elaboration.
3. They have such charming man-
ners. When they slam a door in your
face, they do it gently. They always
pull the chair out for you; they es-
pecially like to do this when you are
sitting in the chair.
4. Because they are so gentle and
patient with Michigan coeds. In all
humility, the poll reveals, Michigan
girls realize the limitations on their
abilities and the negative qualities
of their charms. And Michigan men,
they say, are very considerate with
"the poor, ignorant coeds here at the
University."
5. Because they make love in such
a tremendous way. Michigan men
never do things merely part way, the
poll reveals. (Regarding this point
the poll has revealed enough.-Ed.'s
note.)
6. Because they dress so well. They
never wear cardigan sweaters or knee
length socks, the coeds marvelled.
And they aren't prosaic enough to
wear neckties or anything common
ike a clean shirt.
7. They are always perfect gentle-
.nen. There was a striking unanimity
Af opinion on this point. All coeds
submitting written answers had the
word "perfect" in quotations.
8. Because they are so slow in mak-
ing love. This point is in direct refu-
,ation of point 5 above. Fewer girls
3mphasized this point, however. One
irl said she came from Detroit where
-he "boys are so terrible, that it's
nice to go out with Michigan men
who are interested in you only for
your intellectual qualities."
9. Because there are no other men
available. There was a unanimity of
opinion on this point, too. One girl
put it this way: "I like Michigan men
'cause they are better than no men.
But not much better."
10. Because they like to drink a
lot, and how. It is encouraging to
note that few girls included this
point in the answers, which shows
that Michigan coeds are not such
sots as they used to be.
11. Because they are pleasantly di-
verting from the cares of school,
and have such wonderful senses of
humor. They always know the latest
jokes from Garg.
12. Because they make us appreci-
ate men in other places more. "I go
out with Michigan men a lot," one
girl explained, "because then when
I go home the fellows there seem
so wonderful and charming in com-
parison to these lugs." Such strong
language was found in few of the
answers.)
13. Because Michigan girls don't

have good taste. This answer came
from only two, both of whom were
cynical about the judgment of their
sex.
14. Because they are not a bit ego-
tistical.

On Breakfasts
Speaking of surveys,-some nosey
old geezer, crabbing about 'what's
the good of J-Hop breakfasts any-
way,' and all that just informed us
that he and some fellow by the name
of trot or lope or something inter-
viewed a bunch of B.M.O.C.'s and
wish to publish their findings for
posterity.
"I like to eat any time any place,"
said Ezra Turnipseed, "therefore I
will be glad to make up for any lack
of consumption of those remarkable
repasts."
Joseph E. Jumble, Jr., contributed,
"this time I hope I can make it. Been
trying for the last seven years." And
another student opined that he hoped
they'd have his favorite little piggy
sausages again, because he never
sausage luscious tidbits.
"We hope the girls won't eat as
much as they do every other date,"
replied the final interviewee; "Maybe
studying makes people hungrier, or
sump'n, but I can't keep up with
these girls." And that's it.
